Fall Friday Group Hike to Overlook Mountain

Son son son that pre-nor'easter sunset was everything 😍

Before every trip, I do a little safety overview, to make sure everyone's on the same page about safety.

On this fall Friday group hike, I added the extra caveat that there were rattle snakes on this mountain.

Altho I'd seen a couple from a distance, these were very rare occasions.

Maybe because of the full moon, or because the super el niño or because there's just a lot of crazy sh_t happening this year, but not only did we get to see one up close, it actually squared up and tried to lunge at us!

It hissed at us and rattled at us. It was just trying to cross to the other side of the trail and we were in its way.

So we backed wayyy the f_ck back and it crossed the trail and we just kept it moving and everything was fine.

It was just coincidence we happened to be crossing when this local resident wanted to cross, too, "This my forest, foo. Put some respect on my name and best get out my way!"

We did not look for it or antagonize it - although I did throw shade at its little baby rattle which in hindsight, probably didn't help 😅

Anyway, we lucked out with amazing weather and had the most spectacular jaw-dropping views from the top. It's basically why we go hiking.
