Hike Under A Full-ish Sturgeon Moon on the Appalachian Trail Boardwalk

Can't believe we made it!

After epic Saturday evening traffic around NYC - the weather was gorgeous - the van got stuck in 3 boroughs navigating between dropoffs from an earlier trip and picking up V.

The van arrived an hour late to our Astoria pickup. A HUGE thank you for all hikers that night for their extraordinary patience on a difficult pickup process.

After we got out of the city driving towards a beautiful sunset, we arrived at our trailhead and hiked under clear skies and with a gorgeous full-ish moon in our faces the entire time - still experiencing a partial lunar eclipse from the earth's shadow on it that made it look all coppery.

Experiencing this other side of nature is a must for anyone who appreciates the outdoors. Hearing, smelling, your tactile senses are all twice as alive when your vision is limited. Turn off your headlamps and it's suddenly brighter than you expected because... full moon. Now you're feeling that energy and understand how humans survived this long without a.i., without computers, without artificial light.

These trips don't occur often. The moon's schedule, our schedule and the weather all have to align. So yeah, despite the delays in getting out there, we were meant to be out there that night.

Thank you, fam!
