Summer Friday Group Hike to Kaaterskill Falls
Al Berrios
A 1-in-1,000-year storm dropped 8 inches of water in the area a few days before we arrived.
It flooded streets. It threw a monkey wrench into local businesses. And it did this to Kaaterskill Falls...
I've been here too many times to count over the last few years. I've seen these falls covered in ice. I've seen it with a gentle trickle. But this is the first time I've ever this.
And apparently, it's going to happen again. As a New Yorker, I'm seeing how this crazy weather is impacting our local neighborhoods and streets. We've got twisters and rivers flowing across NYC streets, fam. Just saying...
Collecting trash and recycling ain't helping.
Demanding politicians do something ain't helping.
Changing our buying behavior and carpooling ain't helping.
WTF. What can we as an outdoorsy group do to rebalance and restore our outdoors?
What do you all say?
