 From the article:

"New York City is renowned for its fast-paced lifestyle and endless entertainment options. While the city's energy is undeniably captivating, it's essential to take a break from the constant buzz. Whether you're looking at homes for sale in Midtown Manhattan or apartments for rent in SoHo, the Big Apple offers a surprising array of outdoor activities for those seeking respite and rejuvenation.

"In this ApartmentGuide article, we'll unveil six ways to escape the city's hustle and bustle while still enjoying all it has to offer. Now, let's get started with some exciting local recommendations for New York City outdoor activities."

Writer Marcello Kline cites Outerthere founder Al Berrios on how to escape the city:

"New York City is a gateway to diverse natural wonders. Al Berrios, founder of Outerthere, suggests leveraging the city's public transit system to embark on day trips to the "mountains, trailheads, beaches, and marinas." Escape the urban jungle and immerse yourself in nature without traveling too far."

Adds Mr. Berrios, "After about a year or 2, after they've been to all the bars, all the museums and once they realize that their local park makes no sense without kids, "new locals" will start to miss being outdoors and doing outdoorsy things.

"And luckily, there are over 100 organized hiking groups in NYC that host trips outside of the city. There are about a dozen that'll take campers camping. There are a handful that'll get you paddling in the summer or get you to the mountains to ski/snowboard in the winter."

Berrios continued, "It gets a lot easier to filter based on cost/professionalism, demographic preference of your group, languages spoken and accessibility. And while some groups organize carpools or provide some kind of shuttle van for extra, NYC's public transit options are incredible versatile in getting locals to the mountains, trailheads, beaches and marinas.

"Eventually, after trying a few of these groups, new locals stick with one or two they really like for a season. Because after they've met everyone, they realize that the thing they never knew they missed the most was the camaraderie of doing outdoorsy things with others like them. Their co-worker friends are great, but they don't like doing outdoorsy things as much as they do, so this is a fantastic way to meet other outdoorsy locals.
