So OK, you’re curious enough to try it, too. And luckily, there are about a dozen climbing gyms in NYC and a few public park options.
Climbing gyms and climbing destinations are usually packed with very intimidating people. Climbers who actually scream when their arms give out and they slip off the rock.
You’re pretty sure you’re not going to get that emotional-climbing-is-life-cutting-off-all-other-human-contacts-who-don’t-climb intense with it.
You just want to try it casually. Maybe even with other like-minded, normal people who actually own clothes that don’t spray white chalk dust when they walk.
Well, this trip was created for you.
No fuss, no stress, and no pressure to become a loud-yelling, not-yet-sponsored rope nazi (or his girlfriend).
Outerthere is partnering with NYC-based, certified fitness and climbing instructor Jess Naftaly of She Sends Strong Coaching for hikes to established climbing areas outside of NYC to learn the basics of climbing on boulders - without ropes, without fancy gear, and without the toxic masculinity that makes climbing less fun sometimes. All you need to bring is your stoke!
