One day, Outerthere Host Anna and her bff Carla decided to go on a casual walk that accidentally turned into a 17-mile hike. Apparently, they only took a 5-minute break the entire 17 miles. So, to finish that hike, they’d say, “Onward!” to motivate each other to keep going. Ooookay. It was crazy but that's how the Onward Challenge (and hashtag) was born.
The #Onward Challenge is a 36.5 mile "ultra" hike-a-thon that will take you over 7,350 feet of elevation change over 15 weeks from January to April. Each hike has its own challenges, testing your stamina and endurance. But when you're done, you're never going to forget what you accomplished.
These trips are rated Advanced and will maintain a fast pace. See how we rate trips. These trips also include limited support with hydration and snacks, blankets and changing areas provided by your Outerthere Host at the beginning and at the end of each trip. There will also be a support vehicle available at a midpoint on longer Challenges.

This Challenge, Bull Mountain Loop, is a 5.5-mile loopthat covers 1,400 feet in elevation change. For added challenge, you're attempting this in 3 hours or less. It'll feel like your own personal Mt. Everest.

10am Arrive at midpoint

11:45a Conclude trip
Although this trip is doable by anyone, this trip is rated Advanced because of the pace and distance.
This will be a supported trip with refreshments waiting for you at the midpoint and at the end.
