"If New Paltz were a Tinder profile, a lot of people would be swiping right. This town about 80 miles north of New York City, in southern Ulster County, is sporty, brainy, cultured and beautiful. Cradled by a mountain range, surrounded by meadows and forested preserves, cut through by a river, anchored by a state university and speckled with historic houses, shops and galleries, it attracts athletes, day-trippers, art lovers and now..." RESTAURANTS THAT DELIVER TO OUR CAMPGROUND
These restaurants deliver and are also accessible by car (3 minutes) or walking (30 to 45 minutes).
TRY IT AT THE CAMPOUT, OUR FOLDUP KAYAKS
We're making the outdoors more accessible!
We're taking you on unique kayaking trips to places you wouldn't be able to access any other way and for less money than you'd expect.
How? We utilize foldup kayaks! Try one at the sunset kayaking planned trip on Saturday June 3.
Walk-ins welcome! Camper vans welcome! Please reserve the Parking Only option in the dropdown.
Kids 10 and younger can camp for free in your tent. Use code KIDSFREE at checkout for every kid you're bringing under 10.
This trip is included at no additional charge when you get your Annual Pass!
Roundtrip shuttle available from NYC on Friday and returning late on Sunday only. Shuttles will not return to NYC on Friday or Saturday. They will not pickup from NYC on Saturday or Sunday morning.
Courtesy shuttles will be available to and from different activities and the New Paltz bus depot Saturday and Sunday (upon request, schedule TBD, reserve via Welcome email sent after you book this trip). Masks enforced inside vehicles. This trip is included with your Ryde Pass. You are also welcome to drive to each activity on your own.
This trip is accessible using public transit on Trailways. Roundtrip is $46. Buses depart all day starting 7am. It's an hour and 40 minute ride. Outerthere shuttles can pick you up from bus depot on Main Street in New Paltz upon request.
Driving there in your own vehicle? Parking is limited and traffic congestion is severe in New Paltz - like NYC during rush hour severe. Arrive early to avoid any issues.
The Campout is tent camping. That means that there will not be bathrooms or showers. There will be shared rinsing basins with fresh water and port-a-johns available for your convenience. Bring your own soap, water container and towel.
You do not have to camp at all. Plenty of hotel and bed & breakfast options in town. You can hang out with us at our campground and sign up for any trip you want.
We ask our guests to adhere to our physical distancing and face covering policy below, including around the campfire.
If you've read all this, thank you. You get a 40% discount on any 2023 hike, camping or kayaking trip on the Trip Calendar! Go ahead and add your trip and use code WKNDCAMPOUTGUEST at checkout. Discount only valid when you sign up for the Wknd Campout and must be used when you reserve the Wknd Campout. Discount only valid for a single trip.
My kids are coming. How serious are you about "kid-friendly"? There will be other kids at the campground. And you'll be able to reserve individual, kid-appropriate activities for you and your little ones each day during the Campout (while availability lasts). Also, kids 10 and younger can camp for free (as long as they fit in your tent).
I'm going alone and worried about walking around the campground in the dark. How far apart will the parking lot, campground and campfire be? Refer to the map in the images here. The parking lot is approximately 15 seconds from the checkin table and 30 seconds from the campground. You'll be able to set up your tent within line-of-sight to the campfire.
Will there be food? Although coffee and pastries will be provided starting at 7a (first come, first served), food is available in New Paltz, 3 minutes from our campground by car. The map on this page shows restaurants that deliver to our campground. There will be plenty of time between activities to order, receive and eat your food.
Will the camping and activities happen rain or shine? Yes. Rain or shine. Except for climbing. Can't climb in the rain. Also, if there's an electrical storm, kayaking will be canceled. If your activity gets canceled, your credit for that activity will be transferred over to the same activity from our calendar, so you'll be able to do it at a later date.
Ask any questions any time from the chat box on this page.
Pickup times and locations for roundtrip transportation sent via email after you've booked your trip.
