Beginner Overnight Backpacking at Windham Mountain
Al Berrios
You know those outdoor groups that take like 50 people out into the woods? This is not one of them.
The one thing you can (almost) guarantee in a small group is that you're going to have a good time getting to know others, spreading out and getting personal attention from your hosts.
It can be too easy to disappear in a large group. So easy, your host doesn't notice you. Others in your group stick with whoever they came with. You're still alone - except in the woods.
Multiply that when it's a group camping experience. Yikes.
There are definitely great things about heading out with a large group in a bus or 4 vans. But it's hit or miss if you're introverted, don't look a certain way or appear unapproachable when you secretly want to be the star.
With that said, I want to give a HUGE thanks to this group because despite needing to work and the every reason to complain about the colder temps (I woke up with snow flakes on my sleeping bag), they made this first trip of the camping season AH-MAY-ZING!
