What exactly is Forest Bathing?

Forest Bathing derives from Japan and can be roughly defined as: “making contact with and taking in the atmosphere of the forest”. It is a practice that describes a broad group of techniques or treatments to use nature to improve mental and physical health.

Forest Bathing has been documented to reduce stress hormone production, improve feelings of happiness and free up creativity, as well as lower heart rate and blood pressure, boost the immune system and accelerate recovery from illness.

We'll be guided by Dan McFadden. He’s a Certified Mindfulness Meditation Teacher and Nature Therapy Practitioner who has been practicing mindfulness and meditation since 2013. Dan has studied throughout the U.S. with reputable meditation teachers and organizations and now teaches with the intention of inviting others to cultivate their own meditation skills.

WHAT TO EXPECT

  • 11am Arrive at trailhead, safety brief, light stretching
  • 11:15am Begin hike
  • 12p Arrive at midpoint, meditation, lunch.
  • ~2p Begin return to trailhead
  • ~2:45p Conclude hike
